HSK certificate offers a reference for educational institutions to recruit students, classify students, exempt students from some courses and grant credits. The certificate also offers a reference for employers to employ, train and promote employees.

Some Chinese learners choose to take the HSK preparation test course to be more motivated in Chinese study. The test helps them to better understand their Chinese language ability and knows how to improve it.
HSK is a standardized test of standard Chinese language proficiency comprising a written test and an oral test especially designed for Chinese language learners who are non-native speakers with the aim of testing “comprehensive language and communication ability.”
HSK Test is held by Hanban, the Confucius Institute Headquarters which is a non-governmental organization under the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
Students completing HSK2 will have an excellent grasp of basic Chinese and can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 300 words.
Students completing HSK3 can communicate in Chinese at a basic level in their daily, academic and professional lives. They can manage most communication in Chinese when travelling in China. Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 600 words.
Students completing HSK1 can understand and use very simple Chinese phrases, meet basic needs for communication and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies. Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 150 words.
Students completing HSK4 can converse in Chinese on a wide range of topics and are able to communicate fluently with native Chinese speakers.Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 1200 words.
Students completing HSK5 can read Chinese newspapers and magazines, enjoy Chinese films and plays and give a full-length speech in Chinese. Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 2500 words.
Students completing HSK6 can easily comprehend written and spoken information in Chinese and can effectively express themselves in Chinese, both orally and on paper. Students will have a vocabulary of approximately 5000 words.
